Cyber Safety - Internet & Cell Phones

Remember the Golden Rule: Treat others the way you want to be treated

Facts of Life on the Internet: Once you post something, it stays there forever. Even if you delete it…

Be nice: People who are nasty to others are at greater risk of being bullied or harassed themselves.

Never post bad messages or pictures: This can and will cause you problems later on. Even people you consider friends can use this info against you, especially if they become ex-friends.

Don’t Talk to Strangers: Never talk to strangers online. Never agree to meet someone you don’t know. Tell your parents immediately if someone or something is making you uncomfortable.

Guard your private information: Do not post private information online. Your full name, school, age, address, and phone numbers are private information. Never share your passwords with anyone except your parents.

Be smart when using a cell phone: All the same tips apply with phones as with computers. Be careful who you give your number to and how you use GPS and other technologies that can pinpoint your physical location.
